I realize this is a post about bath toys. Bath toys. It’s just that we’ve just recently hit our stride in finding non-plastic, midew-resistant, simple bath time fun and I’m really excited. Maybe it doesn’t sound too exciting, but stick with me here. If you’re like us, bath time is a pivotal moment in the day because it’s the last chance to make good, get the sillies out and relax for story time which must go well or mom will have to work overtime. Help.
But it had a way of feeling like a circus sometimes with the kids jostling about in a giant toy soup. At the end of her shift mom doesn’t want circuses. So I edited down the collection to a handful of shells, 2 sea sponges and 3 natural rubber bath toys. Add to that a few drops of lavender oil and a trickle of water from the faucet and the kids are entertained long after the water has gone cold. Fill shell with water. Pour it out. Repeat.
There is definitely truth to the notion that simple toys = deeply focused imaginative play = more peaceful kiddos
Sometimes I trade the toys for 2 capfuls of California Baby bubble bath. Smear bubbles on brother’s head. Laugh. Repeat. Finally bath time has become the relaxing haven it is supposed to be…
